All of the classes in our family dog program are geared towards teaching you how to help your dog become a fun, well behaved and well adjusted family pet. Basic manners and obedience are emphasized using dog friendly methods. No choke chains or pinch collars are used. You will learn how to “think dog”. We will help you avoid the most common problems and prevent the most common bad habits.

Puppy Classes (for puppies 8 to 18 wks old)

This is where it all begins! It is very important to start teaching puppies as early as possible. Puppies learn very quickly. When puppies learn good habits right from the start bad habits don’t form. Puppy classes cover socialization and manners. Puppies build a solid foundation for further training. Pups discover that learning is fun especially with their best friend – you!
Our unique rotating classes allow young puppies to start into classes immediately without waiting. This class structure is also more flexible for those with busy or variable schedules. Puppy classes consist of four one hour classes. Each class has a theme and classes can be taken in any order. A maximum of 5 puppies per class ensures that you and your puppy will get lots of individual attention.

Family Dog (for puppies and dogs over 5 months old)

Bring out the best in your best friend! This class covers basic manners and self control. Important skills such as walking without pulling, greeting people without jumping up and basic obedience are taught in a fun and informative way.  This is a six week course.  Each class is one hour long once weekly.

Behaviour consultations are available for people who are experiencing particular behaviour problems that are outside of the regular curriculum covered in classes.

Agility classes are a great deal of fun.  You will be amazed at what you can train your dog to do and how much he will love it.  Agility is essentially an obstacle course for dogs.  It is a competitive sport in which your dog can earn titles.  All of our instructors actively compete in agility and have been highly successful.

Beginner Agility

In beginner agility class dogs will be introduced to each of the obstacles in agility in a safe and controlled manner. The skills needed to successfully negotiate the obstacle and the handling skills will be worked on weekly. By the end of this class the dogs will have a good working knowledge of most of the obstacles (the teeter totter and the weave poles will still need work).
Prerequisite – Family Dog Class or Puppy Agility
Instructor – Dawn Kadish or Sandy MacDavid

Puppy Agility

Puppy agility is for young puppies less than 6 months old.  Puppy agility classes introduce fun activities that build some of the skills that will be needed for agility later.  Puppies will gain confidence and have lots of fun as they learn to negotiate new and interesting obstacles.  They also will learn how to focus and this will strengthen the bond that you have with your puppy.
