I can't say enough about Checkers day to day temperament. He is perfect, he settles nicely, will lay on my lap all evening, yet if I get up and am ready to interact with him its game on... My yard is full of Agility equipment and he would prefer that we play agility 24/7, or at least play Frisbee. But he is not overly demanding. He is a quiet dog unless were running agility. He is extremely confident, and very smart. He does talk to me, with this cute howling like sound that makes me laugh. His whole litter does it. So cute.
He travels to work with me daily, usually hangs out up front with my receptionist, and we consider him the Wal-Mart greeter. Clients love him.
One crazy fact about Checkers that amazes me, is that I raised a baby deer that lived with me for 3 years, and they were amazing friends. They played together and he protected her. It always sent goose bumps down my spine to see them interact. 
Checkers is a very gently boy.
