After a bit of coaxing Cassie finally entered K8 in her first agility trial! She was entered in Starters Jumpers on the weekend and apparently she WAS ready because she won her class!! She got her first Q, and first place, her very first time in the ring!! Yay!

Kessie went herding today! At first she didn't want to go near the sheep, but it didn't take long for her to switch on! She had too much fun chasing and it took her awhile to take it seriously, but the instructor said she did very good for her first time.

Quest just recently turned one year old and competed at his first disc trial in Mt. Forest on Sunday. Alison (7yrs old) competed with him in the Junior division and earned 2nd place, Jessica's husband competed with him in Novice Single Disc (and had a lot of fun) and Jessica competed with him in Novice Freestyle and earned 2nd place!

HiQ TWIX
This is our new little girl!!!
Twix is Troo & Reckon's puppy.
It is fun to see her personality developing. From birth Twix reminded me of a mini-Troo and she is already displaying some of Troo's traits such as carrying things when playing in the yard. She is already great at retrieving toys and I am just starting her agility education. I am really looking forward to my new adventures with my little Twix!

It is a very sad day for us today as we said our final good-bye to Zac. Zac and Howard were an unstoppable team for so many years. The two were so close that it is hard to think of one without the other. Zac had a terrific life. We are very lucky to have shared our lives with him for almost 17 years. He loved flyball and frisbee, but most of all he loved Howard
and Howard loved him.

TROO & RECKON'S PUPPIES HAVE ARRIVED!!!

Troo started having her puppies October 27th at 11 pm and had her last puppy at 2:30 am on October 28th! She has NINE very vigorous beautiful puppies. There are 6 males, 3 are red and white and 3 are black & white, and there are 3 females, 1 red and white and 2 black and white. All are very traditionally marked.

Jig, Ceilidh & Bree got back from Georgia last night. They had a great time at the USDDN World Championships. There was also a herding clinic so all three dogs were entered. They all passed the test, but Bree was outstanding! The woman running it actually asked Catharine if she would sell him to her!!! |

Tink had a great time dock diving this weekend! She had a total of 4 waves, her first wave she earned a Junior leg (with 11' 7"), but her last 3 waves she got 3 Senior legs and kept besting her personal best with a 16' 1", 17' 1", and a 17' 4". She made it into the Amature finals, and had her best jump yet of 17' 8", and placed 4th of the top 8 dogs in that division.

HiQ Freestyle "Brody" has started off his agility career well. He has earned both novice titles and his open standard title in AKC agility. Karann is hoping to have him in Excellent B by the end of the year and in October he will be making his debut in USDAA too!

AAC Canadian National Championship News

It was another exciting Nationals in Ottawa. Again the weather provided a full range of challenges from stifling humidity, blazing sun, rain and thunderstorms. We all painfully felt Bogey's absence, no one more so than Craig and Robin Eagleson, but Bogey was definately there in spirit. Some other competitors even dedicated their runs to him in the Steeplechase finals. I found myself tearing up several times, but we all pressed on.
Tink had two phenomenal Steeplechase runs that moved her right into the finals. Her final run was also amazing. One of the judges was sitting beside me and he kept saying "wow, that is an amazing dog, look at her go!!". Tink placed 5th out of a class of over a hundred of the topdogs from all across Canada and won some money to boot! Way to go Tink!! There were lots of clean runs from HiQ dogs. Fergus did some fantastic runs on very difficult courses. I have not seen all the results yet, but he did well all weekend! Roo had some great runs too! Tribble amazed me once again, despite me making a goof on one course that cost us dearly she still was able to save the day by running all the other courses cleanly(including Gamblers in a thunderstorm) and ending up in 4th place overall!

Sad News
July 29th, 2009
Our hearts go out to Greta and Bob on the loss of Rosie today. Rosie is a puppy from Trekki and Tach and a littermate to Timer, Tess, Belle, Saunders, Spirit, Angus, Ryker, and Wisk. It doesn't seem that long ago that they were all just puppies, but now we must say good bye to some of our oldest friends. Rosie will stay in our heart always!

Wow, it was great to see so many HiQ dogs out at the Summer Classic Disc Dog trials with some terrific results!
Catharine Gastmeier and Bree place second in Novice Single Disc (NSD)in both trials and two more qualifying scores!
Melissa Pursley and Dilemma only competed at one trial and place third in NSD, Eric Kadish and Tribble placed first in Junior at both trials, Richard Gastmeier and Bree earned a Bronze Catch.
Unfortunately Howard had to pull his entries of Twizz, Tribble and Zed as his appendix ruptured and he had to be rushed to the hospital!!

Zac celebrated his 16th birthday today. Yesterday he shared his birthday with everyone at the disc dog trial. Zac was the first dog registered with the Canadian Disc Dog Association. He is a flyball Grand Champion (30, 000 plus points), Disc Dog Champion and veteran performance dog.

AAC Ontario Regional Championships
Wow, three HiQ dogs in the top ten!! Bogey took third overall in the 26" division, Tribble was 7th and Fergus was ninth in the 22" division. Tribble also made it to the Steeplechase finals and placed third in the 22"! It was great to see so many relatives there. Tia, Hali, Tink, Kessie, Fergus, Bogey, Zed, Tribble, Roo, and puppy K8 where all there!
